The Government have decided to take an interest in the nation’s well-being and happiness. Here at Isis Hypnotherapy and NLP we have been promoting ‘happiness booster’ techniques for many years. We teach these to our students of Hypnotherapy and NLP who then teach them to their clients. One of the simplest and most effective of these is developing an Attitude of Gratitude. Want to do something that takes just a minute or two but has been shown to boost happiness levels by 15 per cent?
1. Before you go to sleep, remember what went well for you that day. Think about anything that was good about your day – a good chat with a friend or spouse, completing a piece of work, a smile from a stranger, cuddling your child or pet. Recall any positive event about your day and smile as you think about it.
2. Then think of something you can look forward to tomorrow. It could be big or small. Having coffee with a friend, making a nice dinner for your family. Even if you have something you are dreading, imagine looking forward to feeling relieved when it is completed.
3. When you awake the next morning re-affirm the things you are looking forward to. Imagine getting to bed and looking back over the positive experiences of this day.
Research has shown that just doing these simple techniques every day for one week boosts your sense of well-being. Developing an Attitude of Gratitude is easy!
Try it – and let me know how you get on.
